About « Healing Autism & ADHD

My name is Joanne Allor and I’m a mother of two beautiful boys. When my son was diagnosed with high-functioning autism, I was hungry for information on how to heal the body and mind. I read books on autism, attended seminars and conferences, researched websites and graduated from the “University of Google” summa cum laude. And in doing all of this I found that I had an affinity for biomedical research, and understood it better than most of my peers. My goal is to help others understand the importance of it and to somehow simplify it…in layman’s terms. I will be updating and adding pages to this website for several months, so check back every week to see what new information has been added.

This blog is for anyone who wants to understand the steps I’m taking in the recovery process of my son from autism. It focuses primarily on biomedical treatments, simply because I only have so many hours in a day to write and research information on autism and ADHD. In my experience gained from this journey, I credit behavior therapy and the biomedical treatments with our DAN! doctor in my son’s recovery process. One without the other wouldn’t have brought him to where he is today. This blog will explain my belief of why and how autism is not solely a disorder of the brain, but perhaps a disorder that affects the brain. It also affects the immune system and the gut.

I offer a message of hope and perseverance. If your child has been diagnosed with autism or ADHD, there are ways you can help him/her and improve their way of life. It takes perseverance to heal your child if they have autism and the journey of a thousand miles, definitely begins with a single step. It’s just knowing which path to take.
